I have a request to all of the various health-blrs out there, (whether you’re about fitness in general, lifting, running, yoga, martial arts, nutrition, etc.):
I’d like to find a reputable website (or possibly a few) that test/rate/review fitness supplements (protein powders, multi-vitamins, pre & post workout drinks, etc). Basically, I’d prefer to find a “watchdog” type site, one that debunks the products that are full of ludicrous claims, tells what actually works, and what’s worth the money. That might be hard to find though, so anything that provides good (good meaning honest) reviews/info would be great.
To give you an idea of what I mean, (and I talk to a lot of people about this, and they have that ‘lightbulb’ moment when I say this), lots of supplements have labels that say “clinically tested” for weight loss/muscle gain… well, I can TEST pencil shavings for muscle gain, and sell a bottle of them with “clinically tested” on the label, I’d rather find “clinically PROVEN” items. And one step further than that, there’s always a brand-name product that WORKS, but is loaded with extra stuff that’s meaningless. If there’s a less expensive non-brand-name item that does the same thing, I (like most of us) would rather take a little extra time and find the cost-effective stuff, and save the money.
So if you know of some apps, sites, blogs, magazines, or maybe one of you on tumblr is already doing this, please let me know. Thanks guys! -Nick =]
